I hopped on my bike and took a leisurely, sunny Sunday ride over to 6th Ave for this year's Art on the Ave. The weather couldn't have been better and, by virtue of their numbers, the crowds there agreed. I caught a bit of Vicci Martinez, some lovely hula dancing, and some pretty sweet small half pipe skateboarding. Though, compared to my fav AotA thus far, there wasn't nearly enough art going on. It's one thing to sell it but it's quite another to let the throngs of people see art happening. I believe it's absolutely key to getting "normal" people to buy art or at least feel it's accessible. Whatever the case, Tacoma was out and at least enjoying being out and not being chilly or sweaty and, that in and of itself, is a win in my book.
