Tacoma's Central Neighborhood Council (CNC) is looking for a new board member. They have one seat available and are always looking for alternates. You can get involved by filling out a simple one-page application. As with all our local neighborhood councils, they act as a bridge between residents and the City. Achievements the CNC has chalked up recently include supporting Art on the Ave, helping the process of purchasing 18 acres near Snake Lake for open space, and purchased 200 dusk to dawn light for neighbors that need it and for no charge to them.
Seems like a great way to get involved for anyone with the time and I'm sure they'd learn lots of interesting things about how our neighborhoods and City work. Any applicants won't come up for a vote, however, until the groups January meeting.
