New lights in our carport
Got to sleep in a bit today and despite the stagnant air we cleared our scratchy throats and got started with the day. After a bit of breakfast I worked on our first Christmas cards then got prepped for an afternoon of carport lighting installation. My very handy buddy Steve offered to join in the fun and we did pretty well for ourselves. I first mounted a junction box for a light switch and power outlet. The nice thing about this project is that there were already two outlets wired in the carport so all we needed was to jack into that power for the lights. We then mounted the boxes for the lights with a couple L-brackets up on some supports under the roof. One of my main concerns is not to let too much light bleed out into the alley and into our neighbor's house. I only want the lights so we can feel a bit safer when we come home late and so we can see into our trunks after dark. Anyway, we go the boxes mounted and then tacked up some wire. With the wire run we tied everything up at the lights then did the same at a junction box. Our first try wasn't successful but we did a little troubleshooting and soon got everything just right. Despite me giving myself a little shock early on and Steve nearly crimping off a finger while shortening a screw we did a bang-up job and the lights are awesome! Thanks for the help Steve-o -- you can come over and throw down on a little Galaga anytime you want!
Angela, Steve, Sarah and I then caught some dinner at Anthony's on Point Defiance. I had some rather fried salmon fish and chips then enjoyed a small hot fudge sunday. I also had some fun taking some pics of some rather moldy Halloween pumpkins rotting nicely in a small compost pile on the side of my garage. I also couldn't resist trying for some shots of the Point Defiance/Vashon Island Ferry and other lights on this foggy night. Oh, and Steve is letting me play with his industrial-strength camera flash and, I must say, I'll definitely be getting one of my own. Especially so I can snap photos at my brother's wedding. Toys!

You definitely need to get that flash. That is an amazing difference. What pretty girls you have.

Nice use of the bounce flash. It's amazing what a difference it makes. When you photograph the wedding don't forget to take extra batteries!

I'm probably going to get me a flash before then. Thanks for letting me borrow yours though!
